This is the state's only locally produced Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service (RASS) online training program designed specifically for us Montana folk.

Montana RASS Training isn't a faceless international conglomerate from half way around the globe churning out generic content to meet the bare minimum.  We are your neighbor with deep Montana roots.

House Bill 157 - (Effective January 1, 2026)

New Rules for Responsible Alcohol Server Training

Previously, everyone was required to take the same 3-hour course. Now, training is split into two separate tracks based on your specific job duties.


Which Course Do You Need?


🍷 On-Premises (The 2-Hour Course)

·       Who it’s for: Employees at bars, restaurants, or establishments where alcohol is consumed on-site.  This course is comprehensive and also covers Off-Premise & Delivery.

·       What it covers: Provides full certification for On-Premise but also covers Off-Premise, and 3rd Party Delivery.



🛒 Off-Premises (The 1-Hour Course)

·       Who it’s for: Employees at grocery stores, convenience stores, or 3rd Party Delivery drivers (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grub Hub, etc.).

·       What it covers: Provides certification strictly for selling closed containers (Off-Premise & delivery only).  This course does not cover on-premise sales.

Final Exam Information

This exam is designed to reinforce what you’ve learned, not to be a barrier to your employment. We want you to succeed!

  • Passing Score: You need 80% (20 or more correct answers) to pass.
  • If you score 70% – 79%: You are close! Please contact  Contact Montana RASS Training to request a one-time retake of the exam.
  • If you score below 70% (or fail the retake): You will need to retake the full training course. However, don't worry—if you contact us within 30 days, we will let you retake the course at no cost.
